Who is a loved one?

A loved one is anyone you'd like to help by paying their NHIF payments, typically our users pay for their siblings, parents , relatives and friends.

What does the payment cover?

Your loved ones will be covered under the NHIF Supa Cover medical insurance which currently includes:
Outpatient and Inpatient Cover, Maternity care, Reproductive health services, Renal Dialysis, Overseas treatment for specialized surgeries not available locally, Rehabilitation for drugs and substance abuse, All surgical procedures including transplants, Emergency road evacuation services, Radiology imaging services (X-rays, CT Scan, & MRI) & Cancer Treatment

How many loved ones can I add to my account?

As many as you would like, there is no limit to how many loved ones you can add to your account.

Which hospitals can NHIF members go to for inpatient services?

There are two kinds of hospitals NHIF members can go to in Kenya:

- Comprehensive hospitals: Hospitals whereby all inpatient services are covered by NHIF
- Non-comprehensive hospitals: Hospitals whereby inpatient services are paid for.

NHIF members have to choose a facility every quarter where they can access outpatient services.

Once they choose any outpatient services within that facility will be covered by NHIF.
